Ulterior Motives

As the header states, our goal for FPRA Blog Week is to showcase the talent of Florida-based public relations practitioners. But we hope this event achieves other objectives as well.

We want to showcase how a blog can be used as an innovative approach to mainstram practices. For this reason, we will publish only one article about blogs. The other articles will be about typical topics of interest in the public relations field. The blog is merely the channel of communication, not the center of attention. We want FPRA Blog Week to be more than a bunch of bloggers blogging about how important blogs are (we do that at Josh's blog.)

We also want to lure all PR practitioners, young and old, to our blog so that they will become familiar and comfortable with blogging. To this end, the blog itself is part of the professional development, in addition to the great lineup of articles we have planned. Yes, we want Steve Rubel to visit, but more importantly, we want the late adopters in the profession to participate. We want them to explore and see what they've been missing.

And finally, we want to promote the Florida Public Relations Association and the individual FPRA chapters throughout the state (listed on the bottom right of this page). FPRA provides a wonderful network to share with and learn from other PR professionals, and FPRA Blog Week will provide an additional forum for this networking to occur.
