FPRA Annual Conference: Dino - Dog or Dinosaur?

Is Dino from the Flintstones a Dog or a Dinosaur?
That little item popped up during the Q&A after Shirley's keynote. Context: at the Cartoon Network they actually had a meeting debating that subject. What do you think?

According to Wikipedia, Dino is a fictional character featured in the Hanna-Barbera animated television series The Flintstones and its spin-offs. He is a pet DINOSAUR to Fred and Wilma. He is a metaphorical dog with the characteristics of a pet canine.
In one episode, "The Snorkasaurus Hunter" (Season 1, Episode 13), Dino is portrayed as a talkative, wisecracking dinosaur, but for the remainer of the series he retains his canine-like persona.
Dino was voiced (actually, barked like a dog) by Mel Blanc. Following his death in 1989, the role of Dino was taken over by Frank Welker.

He's a prehistoric dog.

Does that make him a dogasaur?

I believe the correct answer is DinoDog.
Seriously, this presentation was great because it hit the target on two areas. First, she presented on a multi-brand company that handles PR from both an operating company and enterprise level, and two, she provided actionable career advice to the audience.

This madness must stop! Dino is clearly a dinosaur.
Case evidence:
1. Dino--the name, is obviously short for Dinosaur
2. Other everyday things in the daily lives of the Flintstones, though modern concepts, were represented by prehistoric animals: the Woolly Mammoth sweeper; the Archaeopteryx on which they flew to Texas; the brontosaurus construction equipment; and the pelican trash compactor.
3. In an early episode, Dino appeared as a Snorkasauraus, as stated by Dino himself. He followed Fred home, but inexplicably later lost his ability to speak. A prime example of why it is so dangerous to domesticate wild animals--they lose their natural instincts and abilities. Tisk, tisk, what a shame.
Now we can lay this controversial topic to rest and spend our time debating truly worthy subjects such as the genesis of Sid and Marty Kroft's Electro Woman and Dyna Girl.
Thanks you for your time and attention to this very important topic.
