FPRA Annual Conference: Doris Fleischman Award

FPRA Annual Conference: Doris Fleischman Award

Posted by Chris Gent on August 5, 2008 at 09:24 PM

The next individual award given out tonight was the Doris Fleischman Award.

The Doris Fleischman Award honors unrecognized contributions an individual FPRA member has made to the public relations profession and/or to FPRA. In essence, this is an “unsung hero" award intended to reward that individual who consistently provides support and assistance to the Association.

The award was established to honor the achievements and contributions of Doris Fleischman, business partner and wife of Edward L. Bernays, the “father” of public relations. It honors those FPRA members who, like Ms. Fleischman, make contributions to the field of public relations through consistent, tireless efforts. It is meant to honor a member for his/her “behind the scenes” work and FPRA volunteer efforts that go unnoticed by chapter members and are not recognized by other awards programs.

Drum roll, please... the recipient of the 2008 Doris Fleischman Award is:

Congratulations, Rod. Thanks for your many years of service to FPRA and the Gainesville Chapter!

Rod--it couldn't have gone to a nicer guy. Congratulations and well deserved.

Wow! The FPRA members in Gator Country are really cheering today! Rod, what an honor to have you on board (literally) with our chapter! It has been a pleasure to work with you over the years. I can't think of someone more deserving! Congratulations!

Congratulations, Rod! You have done so much for the profession and for the Gainesville Chapter. It's wonderful you received this recognition. Your commitment to accreditation and certification and the support you provide to all those pursuing APR and CPRC have been invaluable. In the Gainesville Chapter, we know you are always there with words of encouragement and experience. Thank you and congratulations!

Rod - you make all of us in Gainesville proud to say we know you and work with you in our chapter. You've been an active part of our chapter for many years, and while many of our "seasoned" members become uninvolved, you've remained involved continually. You really deserve this recognition - congratulations!

Congratulations Rod! Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the Gainesville Chapter!

Congratulations Rod! You are not only the "behind the scenes" man... you are often leading the way! Sorry I missed it - celebrate!

CONGRATS ROD! I've always admired how you remained SO active in Gainesville-FPRA after your presidency. You somehow warded off the burn-out that afflicts many ex-presidents, and have remained as active as you were during your years as president and on the board back in the 1980s and 1990s. You're a true professional and loyal chapter member, and you were never "unsung" in my mind.

Rod, I think that you are the very epitome of this award. You are one of the constant backbones of our chapter that we rely on time and again. While you are always appreciated, it was high time that you had the hardware to show it!

Congratulations, Ron. I'm glad your service was recognized with this prestigious award.
Kathleen

Oops, typo. I meant Rod (should have previewed!). My apologies and sincere congratulations.

Rod
Way to go! You are most deserving and this is the perfect year to get this - two HUGE awards at once for our chapter!
You've inspired me to actually look into sitting for the CPRC! thanks for all you do.
San

Congratulations Rod! We appreciate your contribution, and your friendship.

Rod - Congratulations! I really appreciate all that you have done for me personally, and for our association at the both the state and local levels. You are always there when needed for advice, and are willing to help in whatever way needed, whether helping with the AV equipment for a luncheon or other event, assistance with committee needs, including many, many years on the PDS committee, and then coming back on the board this past year to oversee our accreditation efforts -- I could go on, but I think everyone gets the idea. You are so very deserving of this recognition. Congratulations again. (Apparently, based on the comments I received, I am going to need to learn how to make mojitos to serve on my turkey platter, so let me know if you can help with that as well. :-) )

Thank you for all of your good wishes. This was quite a surprise. FPRA is a terrific organization and I enjoy working with every one of you great PR professionals!

Paul: Congratulations on your being selected Member of the Year. You are a great asset to FPRA at the chapter and state levels.

And thanks to Chris Gent for pointing me to the blog.
