Public Relations Point of View

Posted by Jeff Nall, APR on May 24, 2007 at 03:41 PM

In a recent opinion piece submitted to the Pensacola News Journal, a Santa Rosa county resident questioned the need for a full-time public information officer position in the county. Joy Tsubooka, FPRA board member and a former Escambia County Office of Public Information and Communications employee, was selected for the position.

In response to the opinion, the FPRA Pensacola chapter board of directors agreed to submit a viewpoint authored by chapter president Jeff Nall, APR to dispel common misconceptions about our industry and highlight the important role public relations plays in any organization's overall success.

I would encourage you, as a member of FPRA and a practitioner in the field, to review this Viewpoint and post a comment online in support of our profession. By educating our community about the many duties of public relations, together we can dispel the suggestion that communicating is a part-time job and prove the value of our professional efforts.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Richardson
Vice-President of Communications

Reporting in on Bosses Appreciation Luncheon

Reporting in on the event. It went really well and all the bosses felt very appreciated. We had 15 bosses attend. Many of them had no previous personal interaction with FPRA, so it was a good opportunity to educate them on what FPRA can do for their practitioner(s) and their organization. Hopefully, it will help with renewals as well. Great turn out and great feedback. If your chapter does not do a bosses appreciation event, I'd certainly suggest doing one.

Bosses Appreciation Day

Posted by Jeff Nall, APR on October 18, 2006 at 02:08 PM

The Pensacola Chapter is turning the October chapter meeting on Thursday, October 19 into our first Bosses Appreciation Luncheon. With October 16 being National Bosses Day, we have a special luncheon planned to recognize them and their support of FPRA and the professional development of their practitioner(s). We also want to thank them for allowing their practitioner(s) to represent their organization in the best professionial organization in the area.

Members have been encouraged to treat their boss to lunch and a special presentation geared to bosses titled "The rise of internal PR: How to turn your greatest expense into your greatest profit." Our presenter, Chief People Officer Greg Mercer of American LubeFast, and the company's first CPO, is responsible for overseeing the Chaplain program, initializing a mentoring program and managing employee retention and relations.
